GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZZETTE

Adrian Ritchie of the De Pere High School girls basketball team has verbally committed to attend the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Redbirds coach Dave Johnson said Saturday. Ritchie, who will be a junior this season, was the starting point guard as a sophomore with the Redbirds, who won their first 22 games before being upset in a sectional semifinal. This season will be UWGB's first under coach Matt Bollant. Bollant replaced Kevin Borseth, who was hired by the University of Michigan after last season.

Setting the pace...

Grafton junior center Rachael Hencke is another product of the increasingly popular Pacesetter Basketball program. The elite training program ---- which also counts Jefferson standout and University of Wisconsin recruit Lin Zastrow and current Badgers center Caitlin Gibson among its players ---- is run by John Waring, who opened a training center in Waukesha.

"You get together with a bunch of other really good players and you just work on your ball-handling, your shooting, your just all-around skills," Hencke, who has yet to commit to a college, but is hoping to play at the Division I level. "I know it really helped me."

Shooting star - Courtney Weibel sets girls national three-point record
By Dave Krider
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED

"...Two days after her record night, Weibel was featured on ESPN. "A bunch of coaches called me and said they never had seen a kid get her shots off so quickly," says her AAU coach John Waring. "I put her on my AAU traveling team [Pacesetter Basketball] when she was 14. I thought she had so much potential that I put her on our 16-and-under team. There were things in her shot that had to be changed. I taught her the two-foot jump stop, or hop. That's when she really started getting her shot off quicker."...
